Re: Deposit for
I wrote to you on regarding the deposit I paid when I moved in (please see copy of letter attached). So far I have not heard back from you and I would like to remind of the sanctions that can be enforced on landlords that do not registered tenancy deposits.
If a landlord doesn't register a deposit, then a tenant can apply to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland Housing and Property Chamber and the tribunal can order the landlord to pay the tenant up to three times the amount of the deposit. A tenant can do this up to three months after the tenancy has ended.
A tenant can also apply to the tribunal during the term of the tenancy and the tribunal can make the landlord adhere to the tenancy deposit regulations by making the landlord register the deposit.
working days have now passed since the start of the tenancy and I have still not received any notification regarding the deposit. Please could you forward me the required information as soon as possible?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
